Your goals are the bridge between your dreams and your accomplishments. Set your goals! Dreaming is Fine, but Doing is Better!

Goals are dreams with work boots on. That’s a little saying we have around our office. It reminds us that in order to accomplish our dreams, we have to work—and I mean work hard.

Don’t get me wrong. There’s nothing wrong with being a dreamer. Dreaming is an integral part of seeing your future and what you want to make of it. However, there is something wrong with being a dreamer who onlydreams. To reach your dreams, you’ve got to be willing to roll up your sleeves, move stuff around, and make things happen.

Your dream is just your starting point. It’s the small business you want to open one day. It’s expanding your already-successful company. It may even be that book idea you have, or the marathon you want to run. How do you plan to reach those dreams? Well, you don’t just walk out and run a marathon without training for it.

We talk about our dreams. We even imagine what it would be like to achieve those dreams. But many of us never take the steps necessary to turn those dreams into reality. That’s where goal setting comes in. Your goals are the bridge between your dreams and your accomplishments. If you don’t first plan and set goals, you’ll never see your dreams come true. You’ll be one of those dreamers who could’ve accomplished so much.

Make things happen by putting on your work boots, and turning those dreams into goals. Being a dreamer is fine. But being a doer is even better!
